Update from November 5, 2024: Ontario has issued a new 2024 Ontario Building Code (OBC) with new references to the 2023 edition of CSA B52, providing further confirmation that A2L refrigerants are allowed in Ontario. The new OBC will come into effect on January 1, 2025. Further details on the transition to the 2024 OBC are available on the Government of Ontario website.
Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has informed HRAI that Ontario Building Code refers only to B52 ventilation requirements, and not the type of refrigerant in the system.
