The World Energy Outlook team at the International Energy Agency (IEA) has invited HRAI members to participate in a survey in clean technology sectors. This survey represents an opportunity for members to make their concerns regarding hiring, skilling, and qualifications known to governments and education providers. The IEA hopes to elevate these messages directly to governments and our Clean Energy Labour Council, both of whom are well positioned to take forward initiatives to address pressing concerns from HRAI members related to hiring and labour.
The anonymised results will be used in the upcoming second edition of the World Energy Employment report, where IEA will do a deep dive on key clean energy technologies, including solar, wind, batteries, EVs, heat pumps, and grids. In these deep dives, we will add more detail on the occupations and skills most in demand in the sector, the key obstacles to hiring, and wages across different geographies. This survey will complement their analysis with real, on-the-ground narratives from employers in clean energy sectors.
