Review of New Brunswick’s Clean Air Act, and Refrigerant Regulations

New Brunswick’s Department of Environment and Local Government is accepting comments until October 16, as part of its review of the province’s Clean Air Act. 

The Clean Air Act is New Brunswick’s law for protecting the quality of outdoor air. It has been in place since 1997, and the act and its associated regulations are under review to modernize standards and strengthen rules that protect outdoor air quality. 

From the HVACR industry’s perspective, this legislation establishes a structure for regulating the industry’s air quality approvals and emission standards, through regulations such as the province’s Ozone Depleting Substances and Other Halocarbons Regulation (NB Reg 97-132).

Individually, you may also participate in the consultation by: 

  • Completing a public survey, which includes questions on both the proposed air quality objectives and broader areas of the Clean Air Act under review. 

  • Submitting written comments or briefs via email at CAA-LAA@gnb.ca.  

  • Participating in engagement sessions, either virtually or in person.
