Registration is now openfor the free Bridging the Gap for Heat Pump Proficiency training. There are limited seats available and assigned on afirst come, first enrolled basis and is filling up fast! The training will be delivered at Fanshawe College (Woodstock), Fleming College (Peterborough), St. Lawrence College (Kingston), Mohawk College (Hamilton) and Herzing College (Toronto).

The training is a combination of flexible on-line learning and weekend labs (up to 10 hours per week). The training runs for 8 weeks, starting March 10, 2025. Attendance and completion of all 8 weeks is necessary to attain the Certificate.

The training takes an overall approach covering what is needed for installation, servicing and maintenance of today’s modern heat pumps – from job site preparation to commissioning. Based on our research conducted in Phase I of the Bridging the Gap project, training emphasis is being placed on sizing and selection, installation, maintenance, controls and line voltage and codes, and commissioning.

With training on specialty products and refrigerants, Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certification is required to take the training. If you don’t already have it, you need to commit to attaining the certification by the end of the training period. ODP is required for the purchasing and/or handling of refrigerants to meet provincial and federal regulations.

As part of the research, the on-line assessment that was completed last summer will be repeated to demonstrate the individual’s learning and training accomplishment, as well as the overall goals of the Bridging the Gap research program – all three phases.

HRAI is excited to bring this training to you in partnership with Environment Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
