Pre-Seminar Workshop with the MBOA
Introduction to Note Taking and Report Writing
We will explore the need for all Regulatory Personnel to maintain proper and effective Notes on all files and taking those notes as the foundation of proper reports. Note Taking and Report Writing are not only essential in protecting the Inspector, the Municipality, and other stakeholders, but they are legally required to be archived in compliance with the Municipal Records Retention policy under the Municipal Act and associated Regulations. We will look at Who needs to take notes, What needs to be recorded, Where in the Inspection process(es) these are to occur, When should notes be taken and Why they are so important. We will also look at How the Notes are to be taken and retained, and How Much information should be recorded. This program is to review and demonstrate the necessary tools and framework to get You as a Regulatory Official started with this important administrative process. It will also serve as the introduction to a more detailed educational program to be offered at a later date
