Possible Work Stoppage at CP – Letter Campaign to Multiple Ministers
HRAI, along with multiple chambers of commerce and other business and sectoral associations, has co-signed a letter sent to federal ministers urging the federal government to do what is best for Canada’s economy and facilitate a negotiation between CP and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference.
For businesses and the economy, having suffered during the pandemic, a successful recovery is threatened by the possibility of a work stoppage on the Canadian Pacific (CP) railway network. While we support the right to collective bargaining, this issue requires the government’s full attention to preserve jobs and protect Canada’s economy.
The strike could begin as early as 12:01 a.m. on March 16 when more than 3,000 locomotive engineers, conductors and other CP employees could walk off the job.
