Nova Scotia Reduces Fees and Eliminates Renewals for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade
Effective October 7, Nova Scotia has eliminated the five-year certification renewal requirement for journeypersons in most compulsory trades, including the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade. Previously, the cost of renewing a certificate was $73.53, due every five years. The fee for replacing certificates or identification cards will continue.
The fee for challenging the certification exam has also been reduced, from $644.15 to $350.
If you have recently renewed your Certificate of Qualification, Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency staff have been tracking renewal applications and will be issuing credentials without an expiry date over the next several months. A refund should be processed on your fee. Please watch your emails for your link to the digital credentials through MyCreds.

This change follows another change made by Nova Scotia affecting the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade. On July 2, Nova Scotia began automatically recognizing Red Seal certifications from Alberta and Quebec.
