New Resource for Members on the A2L Refrigerant Transition in Canada

Starting today, November 10, 2022, HRAI’s newsletter will feature a new resource for members on A2L refrigerants.

This weekly report aims to address every step of the supply chain in the transition to low-global warming potential refrigerants in Canada. It will ensure members have all the information they need to understand the changing regulatory and standard and code landscape as well as relevant and timely information pertaining to the transportation, storage, and safe use and handling of A2L refrigerants and pre-charged equipment.

In this initial note, we encourage members to visit AHRI’s Safe Refrigerant Transition Task Force fact sheet which responds to frequently asked questions regarding low-GWP refrigerants.

It provides a brief overview of what A2L refrigerants are, includes ASHRAE’s flammability and toxicity safety classification of low-GWP refrigerants, and answers general safety concerns for technicians.

In our next newsletter, November 17, 2022, HRAI will provide an introductory report on the current regulatory landscape with respect to A2L’s.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact Stephen Chartrand at 1-800-267-2231 ext. 276 or email schartrand@hrai.ca.
