New HRAI-CETAF Agreement Supports Ontario Contractors Working in Quebec

HRAI is pleased to announce an agreement with the Corporation des entreprises en traitement de l’air et du froid (CETAF), now in effect, creating a clearer pathway for Ontario-based HRAI members who want to access Brazing Methods in Quebec.

This agreement is intended to help HRAI members who are looking to expand their work across provincial borders while continuing to meet the appropriate licensing, permitting, and regulatory requirements in Quebec. Through this agreement, HRAI’s Ontario-based contractor members have access CETAF’s Brazing Methods certification required for this work.

HRAI members pay just $50 for their first year of CETAF membership—a significant savings when entering the Quebec market. Once the required membership and licensing steps are completed, members can register for CETAF’s Brazing Methods course for $2,600, including the PCQ and mandatory training session. Regular CETAF membership fees apply in the second year and beyond.

The agreement also recognizes the connection between Ontario’s Boiler and Pressure Vessel program and Quebec’s Programme de contrôle de la qualité, while making clear that contractors must continue to meet all applicable licences and requirements in the province where they are working.

For HRAI members, this agreement provides:

·      a clearer process for accessing Quebec Brazing Methods requirements;

·      a reduced first-year CETAF membership fee;

·      support for contractors pursuing work opportunities in Quebec; and

·      stronger alignment between HRAI and CETAF for contractors working across Ontario and Quebec.

The agreement is reciprocal, meaning eligible CETAF members also have a defined process to access HRAI’s Boilers and Pressure Vessels Compliance Assistance Program for work in Ontario.

Ontario-based HRAI members interested in this opportunity should contact CETAF to begin the process.

For HRAI’s Ontario contractor members working across provincial borders in Quebec, please contact CETAF for information on joining their BPV program.
