Minister Todd Smith opens the CMPX trade show

On March 23rd, 2022, the Hon. Todd Smith, Ontario’s Minister of Energy and MPP for the Bay of Quinte, opened The Canadian Mechanical & Plumbing Exposition (CMPX) trade show. This ceremony marked the return of the biennial show that has not run since 2018 due to COVID-19.

"It is an honour to have Minister Smith join us at the show's opening," says Martin Luymes, Vice-President of Government & Stakeholder Relations for the Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Institute (HRAI). "We look forward to being able to connect in person as an industry again and show appreciation for the support the Ontario Government has given our growing industry."

Since 2018, Minister Smith has worked under the Ford Government to support economic growth in the booming trade sector. His show of support at the exhibition demonstrates the Ontario Government’s work to promote and market the trades, including the recent launch of the Skilled Trades Ontario to make it easier for tradespeople to work and live in Ontario.

The CMPX show is proud to host the thousands of vital HVACR and Plumbing tradespersons who provide the products and services Ontarians rely upon in their lives and businesses. It features over 500 exhibitors, representing industry-specific products, innovations, and applications. The trade show will be held on March 23, 24 & 25 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

"We thank Minister Smith and the Ontario Government for their continued support," says Luymes. "Skilled trades continue to play a critical role in our economy, and we look forward to supporting Ontario as it recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic."

The CMPX show is hosted by the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) and the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH). These non-profit national trade associations have partnered since 1972 to produce CMPX.
