In the world of HVAC contracting, there are plenty of people who can build a business. Fewer can build a community. HRAI member Carlo Magliocchetti, co-owner of Home Service Group, is one of those remarkable owners whose success seems to rest as much on warmth and relationships as it does on work ethic and skill. 

With his infectious laugh and magnetic personality, Carlo has a way of making people feel like old friends within minutes. That quality has been a defining force throughout his career — from his early days on the tools to leading a thriving group of companies with his long-time business partner, George Monsour. 

The story of Home Service Group began when Carlo, who owned and operated Renato’s Gas Piping, joined forces with George, who ran Accurate Security. This initial alliance, a partnership inspired in part by Carlo’s wife who suggested the name, became the foundation for Home Service Group. That first spark gave rise to many other ventures, including Reid Heating and Cooling, The Duct Scrubber, Mr. Rental Tank, and more. Each new business addressed a specific gap in the market and reflected Carlo’s willingness to innovate and collaborate. 

Carlo’s early company, Renato’s Gas Piping, named in tribute to his late father, quickly gained a reputation for reliability and professionalism, handling gas piping with skill and integrity -- a reputation hard-earned by Carlo and team who spent hours reaching out to disgruntled customers of the company that Carlo had acquired to form Renato’s. “Believe me --It cost us thousands of hours and more than that in dollars! But we had to take care of these people and let them know we were here for them.” Accurate Security, George’s company, brought home- monitoring and protection services into the fold, further broadening the group’s reach while maintaining the same customer-first approach. 

Together, these businesses became Home Service Group -- a cohesive family of services built on trust, consistency, and connection. Carlo likes to say the group’s success isn’t just about strategy or timing; it’s about people. “Every step along the way, the relationships came first,” he explains. That philosophy extends to his employees, some of whom were ‘Career ‘Rebels’ until Carlo recognized their individual sparks. The Home Service Group team values their customers and industry partners alike, celebrating each relationship with the same genuine care. 

More than HVAC services, Carlo is known for mending fences as readily as he builds them. Whether navigating a tough customer situation, strengthening his partnership with George, or deepening his marriage and family ties, he believes in repairing, not replacing, relationships. It’s a trait that has served him -- and those around him --remarkably well. 

Over time, Carlo’s focus expanded beyond his own companies to the broader HVAC community. Through mentorship and involvement with HRAI, he has become an advocate for collaboration and professional standards. He’s brought countless people into the trade, helping them find opportunity and purpose in the same way he once did. 

Ask anyone who knows him, and they’ll tell you: Carlo’s leadership isn’t loud or showy. It’s rooted in humility, humour, and the ability to make people feel seen and supported. Whether rallying his team, mentoring a newcomer, or celebrating a peer’s success, he does it all with his trademark grin -- and that unmistakable, disarming laugh.
