HRAI Returns to In-Person Day on Parliament Hill
On May 31, a small team of HRAI volunteers took to Parliament Hill to meet with Members of Parliament to engage on some key policy issues and to deliver a message of support for more decisive action on climate change. Building on HRAI’s recent federal budget submissions and the climate action leadership announcement made on the same day (see separate story), the team engaged with 14 different MPs from three political parties to share a basic message: the HVACR industry must be given the freedom to lead the way on actions to reduce carbon emissions in homes and buildings across Canada, with appropriate supports from government. That means support for workforce development to facilitate the transition to new technologies, but also insisting that industry has a seat at the table much earlier in the process of program and policy development.
The messaging was well received by almost all of the MPs that HRAI met with and a number of follow-up commitments were made.
HRAI thanks the following dedicated volunteers for their commitment to this initiative: Jim Bolger, Waterloo Energy Products, Chris Hann, Wolseley Canada, Rachel Hilling, Carrier Enterprise, Victor Hyman, ClimateCare Cooperative, HRAI Chair Scott McDonald, Johnson Controls, and Sonny Pirrotta, Panasonic Canada.
