HRAI Meets with ICARHMA
On February 5, on the eve of the AHR Expo in Atlanta, Georgia, HRAI once again joined allied associations from around the world at a meeting of the International Council of Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating Manufacturers Associations (ICARHMA).
At the meeting were representatives from Australia (AREMA), Brazil (ABRAVA), China (CRAA), Colombia (ACAIRE), the EU (EPEE, Eurovent), India (RAMA), Japan (JRAIA), Korea (KRAIA), and the USA (AHRI) as well as Canada (HRAI). HRAI was represented by Vice President of Government and Stakeholder Relations Martin Luymes.
Among other discussion topics, representatives shared the “top three” members’ issues on a national/regional basis. Consistent with concerns that are prevalent in Canada, the recurring top issues of note included:
-
The global refrigerant transition (per Kigali Amendment)
-
Indoor air quality (implications of COVID)
-
Supply change issues/integrity
-
Acceleration of heat pump deployment
-
Workforce needs generally and in relation to decarbonization/electrification
Members shared their respective strategies and concerns in relation to their reported top three issues.
HRAI will be hosting the next meeting of ICARHMA in conjunction with the HRAI Annual Meeting and Conference in Montreal, September 2023.
