The HRAI Atlantic Chapter hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 19th at the Delta Marriott in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The meeting for the most part, was in person and Chapter members were treated to a free lunch. Those unable to attend were able to participate virtually.
The first order of business was to elect a new HRAI Atlantic Chapter Board, HRAI National wishes to congratulate those elected:
Don Webster, Annapolis Valley Air Management, President
Joe McLean, Yorkland Controls, Vice-President
Craig Crossman, Bob’s Cool Air Inc – Director
Patrick Croucher, All Green Mechanical – Director
Shaun Moulton, MasterTech HVAC and Plumbing - Director
Nickeel Lad, National Energy Equipment -Director
James Hall, Hall's Air Conditioning Heating & Maintenance – Director
After the formal business of the AGM was complete the meeting featured two speakers that presented virtually: Peter Lewin of Homesol Building Solutions spoke regarding the Greener Homes Program and Martin Luymes, HRAI Vice President, Government Relations gave an update on the potential establishment of a new trade for the residential sector in Nova Scotia.
The rationale for a new trade was suggested by the Chapter at the 2020 HRAI Contractors Division Town Hall session in order to address the surge in the popularity of residential heat pumps throughout the region. This surge has exposed a skills gap between what the market needs and what the HVAC industry is currently able to deliver.
