HRAI Achievement Awards Profile: Marie Li-Ying

Marie Li-Ying, Business Manager with Honeywell, took her deserved turn in HRAI’s spotlight after receiving the Institute’s Warren Heeley Award for Environment Excellence. The honour recognizes Marie’s work on HRAI’s Manufacturers Board and dedication to the Refrigerant Management Canada (RMC) stewardship program, an initiative that has collected and destroyed over four million kilograms of used refrigerants to date.

“Without dedicated leaders like [Marie] championing the environmental care program, this would not have been possible,” said Caroline Czajko, Director, Environmental Services & Divisions with HRAI, in the award presentation video. “[Marie] is always staying current with emerging trends and keen to share her knowledge with industry peers, which is very welcome.”

To Marie, Caroline added: “We thank you for the countless hours you have spent volunteering your time, your devotion to helping Refrigerant Management Canada. It is truly appreciated.”

Marie joined the online presentation to thank her peers and reflect on her industry volunteer experiences, saying, “It may sound cliche, but it’s true for me: I get more out of volunteering than I put in … Being a volunteer with HRAI has allowed me to keep abreast with government regulations, as well as know what’s happening in the industry.”

Maria encouraged her industry peers to consider sharing their skills and experience with initiatives like RMC, noting, “Lending your expertise to the cause allows one to have an

opportunity to have an industry that one is proud of. It allows you to help move the industry in a direction that’s in line with emerging technologies while, at the same time, keeping the environment in the forefront.”

Congratulations to Marie Li-Ying and all the honourees at HRAI’s Achievement Awards 2021! Watch the video here!
