HRAI’s Heat Pump Symposium Returns to Vancouver with Record Momentum

HRAI’s Heat Pump Symposium returned to Vancouver on May 20th for its second edition in British Columbia — and the momentum behind this event is stronger than ever.

This year’s sold-out Symposium brought together more than 500 industry professionals from across British Columbia and beyond, marking the fifth Heat Pump Symposium hosted by HRAI across Canada. What began as a focused industry conversation has rapidly evolved into one of the country’s premier HVAC events — driving education, innovation, and real-world collaboration around heat pumps and electrification at scale.

From the moment the doors opened, the energy in the exhibit hall was undeniable. More than 50 exhibiting brands and partners filled the tradeshow floor with cutting-edge technologies, tools, and solutions shaping the future of the HVACR industry. Contractors, technicians, manufacturers, distributors, educators, utilities, and industry leaders were actively engaged throughout the day — connecting, exchanging ideas, and exploring the opportunities and challenges shaping what comes next.

The Symposium agenda reflected just how quickly the industry is evolving. Attendees participated in a full day of keynote presentations, expert panels, technical breakout sessions, and networking opportunities focused on market trends, emerging technologies, workforce development, electrification policy, contractor adoption, geoexchange applications, grid integration, and customer engagement.

Highlights included the opening keynote on heat pump market trends and future growth drivers, sessions exploring advanced residential heat pump system design and pre-changeout procedures, discussions on Europe’s transition to electrified heating, and expert panels focused on training the next generation of HVAC technicians and influencing homeowner purchasing decisions. Additional sessions examined geoexchange applications, strategies to avoid costly electrical service upgrades, and the growing role of thermal energy storage and grid-interactive technologies in the future of building electrification.

The educational program matched the energy on the tradeshow floor, delivering practical, field-ready insights that attendees can immediately bring back to their teams, job sites, and customers. Beyond the presentations themselves, the Symposium created valuable opportunities for collaboration across every part of the HVACR ecosystem.

What stood out most throughout the day was the momentum and pride across the industry. The heat pump market is accelerating quickly, creating real opportunity across Canada, and it is clear the skilled trades are at the center of that transformation. Events like the Heat Pump Symposium play a vital role in keeping the industry connected, informed, and prepared for what lies ahead.

HRAI extends a sincere thank you to all attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, volunteers, and partners who helped make this year’s Vancouver event such an outstanding success. The strong participation and engagement demonstrated the growing importance of heat pump technology and the critical role the HVACR industry will continue to play in Canada’s energy transition.

HRAI is already building on this momentum and looks forward to welcoming the industry once again at the next Heat Pump Symposium in Toronto on May 11th, 2027.
