HPCN Becomes Mandatory for Heat Pump Rebates on April 1
If you install heat pumps in existing homes in BC, this is an important update for you!
Homeowners will need to hire a contractor from the Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) to access heat pump rebates from the BetterHomes and Home Renovation Rebate Programs managed by BC Hydro, Fortis BC, and CleanBC.
Membership in the HPCN becomes mandatory for participating heat pump rebates on April 1, 2022. To register with the HPCN, contractors must complete specific training and business requirements that may require a few weeks to complete - make sure you plan ahead.

It has always been the long-term vision of the HPSC and its supporters to see the implementation of a retrofit contractor network in BC that would be mandatory for residential rebates. This requirement is part of industry efforts to increase the supply of qualified retrofit contractors and create a demand for them.
