ECCC Consultation on PFAS Ends September 11, 2024

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) recently posted the Draft State of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) Report and the Revised Risk Management Scope of PFAS in the Canada Gazette on July 13, 2024. Both documents are open for a 60-day public comment period ending on September 11, 2024.

PFAS are sometimes called “forever chemicals”, with some examples of their uses including electronics and semiconductor products like wires and cables, coatings, communications equipment, as well as refrigerants identified as potential replacements for high global warming potential or ozone depleting refrigerants.

Instructions on providing comments on the two documents are available on the ECCC’s PFAS consultation website: click here. The documents can be accessed through the following links:

  • Revised risk management scope for PFAS: click here.

Members and member organizations are welcome to submit their own comments, and HRAI will be preparing a submission providing comments representing the views of the HRAI members.
