CSA Call for Interest on Energy Efficiency Assessment of Commercial and Industrial Fan systems

CSA Group technical committee, C402 on energy efficiency of industrial equipment, has sanctioned the publication of a new standard to benchmark the energy efficiency of commercial and industrial fan systems.

Proposed Scope of Project:

Through the benchmark energy factor (BEF) concept, this BEF standard will provide a unified and consistent method for performing measurement activities and assessment of actual operating system energy performance.

The intent of this standard is to develop uniform methods to measure and assess the overall efficiency of open and closed loop, electric driven fan systems typically used at commercial and industrial facilities. The intent is not to prescribe minimum efficiency levels of fan components or systems for manufacturers but rather provide an energy performance indicator of actual operating system efficiency.

See the attached file for additional details.

Please advise the Laura Contasti of CSA by February 18, 2022 of your interest in participating in a technical subcommittee. If you are new to CSA committees, please complete this form to submit your contact information and a brief summary of your expertise.

CSA will be reviewing all applications over the coming weeks to confirm the subcommittee membership. CSA is arranging to have the kick-off meeting tentatively planned for April 2022 (details to follow). This initial meeting will outline the CSA standards development process, outline the scope of the project and review reference documents. The specific meeting agenda will be forwarded closer to the date of the meeting.

Please feel free to forward this correspondence to other interested parties. Thank you for your interest in CSA’s standard development process.
