Congratulations to HRAI’s Orvil L. Davie Bursary Recipients for December 2021

The Orvil L. Davie Bursary Fund (named after the first Chair of the Board of HRAI) was established by HRAI to assist students in completing their education for a career in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry (HVACR).  The bursary assists in maintaining a higher caliber of HVACR industry personnel.  A huge thanks to three past chairs for volunteering their time on the selection committee – Marc Gendron, Dave Morden and Ron Robinson!

Congratulations go to the two recipients chosen for the $1,000 bursary: Patrick Nelson and Monika Arora!

Patrick is currently enrolled in the Refrigeration Mechanics program at Camosun College in Victoria, BC and has a young family.  He finds the refrigeration trade fascinating and when the pandemic struck and he lost his job, he knew it was an opportunity to get into a new field and into the trades.

"My family and I are very thankful for the HRAI and the Orvil Davie Bursary. I feel very grateful to be given this consideration and look forward to my future in the HVAC-R trade." (Patrick Nelson)

Monika is in the HVAC program at Cambrian College in Sudbury, ON and has been on the President’s Honour Roll.

“Thanks HRAI, for selecting me as a suitable candidate for the Orvil Davie Bursary.  I am very happy that I switched my career from a nurse to a HVACR technician and that my hard work and enthusiasm is being recognized by HRAI .This is an emotional moment for me because when I was about to start this program, I was advised to do more in my own nursing field but I did what made me happy. My confidence level is on the peak now.  HRAI is assisting the students to complete their education in HVACR Industry which is appreciated. Nowadays, most are attracted towards health professions but in my point of view, HVACR is an amazing career to earn and enjoy! Thanks again HRAI!”  (Monika Arora)
