City of Vancouver Energy Requirements for Home Renovations
As of January 1, 2023, The City of Vancouver has a new energy requirement for home renovation projects. For projects over $250,000, it will require electrification of space heating and hot water systems in addition to our previous requirements. You must now use use the updated REUP form [cacea.us19.list-manage.com] found on the energy requirements for home renovation [cacea.us19.list-manage.com] webpage under ‘’Models and checklists.’
In addition, please note that all new air-conditioning (AC) systems must also be capable of providing heat (e.g. heat pumps) as of January 1, 2023. No AC only’ systems will be permitted to be installed.
