Canada’s Plastics Registry – Requesting an Extension to the September 29, 2025 Submission Deadline
HRAI has previously alerted members about Canada’s new plastics registry, which requires companies that manufacture, import or brings plastic into Canada, either inside products or as packaging, to report on your company’s plastic usage by September 29, 2025.
Reporting is currently limited to residential waste streams, but other waste streams will be required to report in future years – more information on those deadlines and other exemptions, can be found in an earlier article about the registry: click here.
Companies needing more time to submit plastics usage data can request an extension to the September 29th deadline by writing to Environment and Climate Change Canada, in writing, on company letterhead with a request for an extension.
The request can be sent by email to: FPR-RFP@ec.gc.ca.
The request should indicate why the company needs an extension, and what your company is currently doing to meet the requested deadline.
