Canada’s Plastic Registry – Mandatory Data Reporting for Plastic in Your Products – IT System Now Av

Is your company producing residential HVAC equipment with plastic content in Canada or importing it into Canada?

If so, your company may be required to submit data to Canada's Plastics Registry by September 29, 2025.

Companies manufacturing or importing HVAC parts or equipment into Canada should be aware of the Canadian government's intention to regulate the use of plastic, to reduce waste.

If your company manufactures, imports, or places plastic on the market in Canada, inside products or as packaging, you will be required to report on your company's plastic usage during the year 2024, by September 29, 2025.

Reporting is currently limited to residential waste stream, with the obligation to report falling mainly on the first Canadian company responsible for bringing plastic into the country.

Complete details on who is required to report is available in the government's Guide for Reporting to the Federal Plastics Registry (link: https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/managing-reducing-waste/reduce-plastic-waste/federal-plastics-registry/guide-reporting-phase-1.html).

The system for submitting data is now up and running - you can test the system at the following link: https://rfp-fpr.ec.gc.ca/en/.
