The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) has issued an advisory outlining a voluntary, alternate process to the existing inspection process for eligible piping fabrications and installations. The alternate process allows eligible piping contractors to inspect eligible piping systems and complete an “Alternate Piping Data Form” as an alternative to a TSSA inspection.
This alternate process is only applicable to certain piping systems fabricated and installed in Ontario. Piping contractors in Ontario fabricating piping for other provinces or countries may require an inspection by a TSSA inspector. Piping systems under federal jurisdiction (for example, Indigenous lands and nuclear sites) do not qualify for this process.
