AHRI Publishes UL Standard 60335-2-89 Ed. 2
As members may be aware, on October 27, the Refrigeration Safety Standards Working Group and CANENA Working Group 12 revised and published UL Standard 60335-2-89 Ed. 2, Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-89: Particular Requirements for Commercial Refrigerating Appliances with an Incorporated or Remote Refrigerant Unit or Compressor.
According to AHRI’s press release, the “revisions include an overhaul of the standard A2L, A2, and A3 allowances; mitigation measures; product scope; harmonization with IEC 60335-2-89; and electrical and mechanical safety requirements for all refrigeration products.”
“This will allow flammable refrigerants to be used safely in refrigeration sector products and assist with compliance to national low-global warming potential requirements.”
