Advertising changes for licensed contractors in BC
Licensed contractors play an important role in our safety system by ensuring that regulated work is performed correctly. However, unlicensed workers continue to advertise and perform regulated work.
After careful consultation with contractors, TSBC is informing the industry that changes are coming. As of January 1, 2023, licensed contractors will be required to publish their company name and Technical Safety BC license number when advertising their services to the public, in accordance with a new set of guidelines.
While the regulation goes into effect on September 6, 2022, the deadlines to update advertising materials will be rolled out in a three-phased approach:
Phase 1 – Digital sales and marketing materials will need to be updated with your Technical Safety BC license number by January 1, 2023.
Phase 2 – Non-digital or offline sales and marketing materials will need to be updated with your Technical Safety BC license number by September 30, 2023.
Phase 3 – Assets such as vehicles and storefronts will need to be updated with your Technical Safety BC license number by January 1, 2024.
