34th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol (MOP 34)
Last week Caroline Czajko, HRAI’s Director Environmental Services attended the 34th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol held in Montreal.
She presented and participated on a panel during a side event hosted by UNIDO. The topic included taking stock of existing Refrigeration and Air Conditioning training tools and exploring future training needs and approaches related to Refrigerant Transition.
Alongside over 500 attendees were several HRAI Manufacturer member companies and organizations including AHRI and Refrigerant Reclaim Australia.
As of November 4th, 141 parties had ratified, approved, or accepted the Kigali Amendment of the Montreal Protocol. During the High-Level Segment meeting Cecile Siewe, ECCC, highlighted that the Montreal Protocol demonstrates how to unite government, science, business and civil society. Speaking via video message, Steven Guilbeault, Minister ECCC, highlighted the Kigali Amendment’s role in reducing HFCs and thus avoiding further global warming.
HRAI extends our thanks to the Open Ended Working Group Chair Martin Sirois, ECCC for his leadership, expertise and active role he has taken in this forum. We are very appreciative of his contributions and wish him well in his impending retirement.
