What you will learn

This 2-day course will instruct participants on the proper commissioning (start-up) of residential HVAC air and water systems. The course will cover the following topics: flows and pressures within a forced air or hydronic system, ventilation system commissioning and house depressurization. HRAI recommends that individuals interested in attending this course have prior training in residential Mechanical Ventilation, Heat Loss & Heat Gain and Air System Design. The Best Part: This course will be invaluable to those installing, servicing and commissioning new or existing residential mechanical systems. A digital "Residential Commissioning" Course Manual is included with your registration fee. For a Hard Copy Manual go to Program Options below and click on “ADD”. There is a $55 charge for shipping/handling.

Cancellation Policy

  • Registration fees will be refunded in full if cancellation is received by HRAI at least 30 days prior to the training date.
  • Cancellations received 15 to 29 days prior to the training date are subject to a $150 cancellation fee.
  • Registrants who do not attend the training or who cancel fewer than 15 days prior to the training date are responsible for the full registration fee.
  • Registrations can be transferred to another participant within 60 days of purchase, provided the course has not started. Transfers after 60 days or once the course begins are not permitted.  

Exam Policy

  • The exam associated with the course must be completed within 30 days of the course. If an exam is left incomplete and must be reset, a $25 administrative fee will apply. 
  • Participants who have not earned their certification within one year of the course date will be required to pay an $89 exam fee before completing or retaking the exam. 
  • Participants will be provided with two exam attempts at no additional charge.
  • A third exam attempt is available for $150. After three unsuccessful attempts, participants must retake the full course at 50% of the course fee to regain certification eligibility.
  • Exam reviews are intended for learners who are within 5% of the passing grade and who have completed their exam within 30 days of their course date. Requests that do not meet these criteria will not be considered.
  • Scores significantly below the passing grade indicate substantial gaps in understanding, and learners are encouraged to revisit the course material. 
  • Requests for instructor time outside of scheduled sessions may be subject to additional charges.
