Habitat for Humanity Canada is a national, non-profit, faith-based organization working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. The mission of the organization is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Through volunteer labour, efficient management and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable, no-interest mortgages. In addition to mortgage payments, each homeowner invests hundreds of hours of their own labour, called "sweat equity", into the building of their house and the houses of others. Habitat for Humanity offers a Hand-Up not a Hand-Out.
2012/13 Campaign in Support of Habitat for Humanity Canada a Huge Success!
HRAI joined with CIPH (Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating) on this initiative in March 2010 and have been working together to provide product and cash to help build homes in Canada. Together members have donated over $2.5 million in cash and products for Habitat for Humanity Canada during the two year campaign. It is because of CIPH and HRAI member donations that over 450 Canadian families have a place to call home.
Thank you to the following HRAI member companies for their very generous donations during 2012/2013:
