HRAI is a national association that represents more than 1,300 heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) manufacturers, wholesalers and contractors, and which provides Canadians with the tools and information necessary to ensure their total indoor environment comfort.

HRAI offers leadership and training programs for the advancement of its members’ business and technical excellence, promotes a code of ethics for consumer protection and safety, and provides consumers with useful information and a database of members in good standing to support an informed buying process. NRCan Closes ecoENERGY to New Registrants

On Sunday January 29th, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Minister Joe Oliver announced via the NRCan website and by way of a news release that the federal government would be officially closing the popular ecoENERGY Retrofit-Homes program to new registrants. The sudden closing of the program comes two months before its official end date on March 31, 2012. The government has limited participation to 250,000 registered homeowners.

2012 Vancouver Building By-Law Proposed Change (Location of Gas Vents)

December 2011

Please be advised of a proposed change to the 2012 Vancouver Building By-Law involving location of
gas vents for heating and air conditioning equipment. The provision would only allow venting vertically
through a roof or horizontally through an exterior wall that faces a street or lane including additional
restrictions. Please note that the proposed change would only be applicable in the City of Vancouver. As
per proposed changes involving venting requirements to the National Building Code for 2015, straying
from CSA B149 (Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code) appears to becoming a common
occurrence. [more]
